Website privacy policy

This policy explains what information LongCourse Tax LLC ("we," "us") collects through longcoursetax.com and how we use it. Information you share as a tax preparation client is covered separately by our Client privacy notice.

Information we collect

• Information you give us: your name, email address and anything you write when you email us, book a call or send one of the forms on this site.
• The forms: "Ask about working together" asks for your name, email address, phone number (optional), which description fits you, the states you file in and a message. "Refer a client / partner with me" asks for your name, firm, email address, phone number (optional), whether you're referring a client or would like to talk about partnering, the client's first name and how to reach them (optional), and a message. What you send goes into our own private client and referral records, which only we can see after signing in. We send you one short confirmation email and a notice to ourselves that doesn't include what you wrote.
• Information collected automatically: pages visited, the referring website, and browser and device type, collected by our website host's analytics, which doesn't use cookies. To limit spam, we briefly keep a count of form submissions per internet address.

Please don't include Social Security numbers, tax documents or other sensitive financial information in a form or an email. The forms refuse anything that looks like a Social Security number. We'll give you access to a secure client portal for documents.

How we use it

To respond to you, schedule calls, follow up on a referral you sent, understand how visitors use the site and improve it, and keep the site secure. We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for others' marketing.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run the site and communicate with you, under agreements that limit their use of your information:

• Website hosting, analytics and our records: Cloudflare (Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies)
• Spam protection on the forms: Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a program, is sending the form. It doesn't use tracking cookies or follow you across other websites.
• Email: Cloudflare Email Service sends the confirmation email; our mailbox is provided by Google Workspace
• Scheduling: Google Calendar booking pages

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Third-party tracking

We don't allow third parties to collect information about your online activities across other websites when you use our site. We don't use advertising pixels or cross-site tracking cookies.

Do Not Track

Our site doesn't currently respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

Cookies

Our own pages don't set cookies. The booking calendar on the Book a call page is provided by Google, and Google's own privacy policy applies to it. The spam check on the forms is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, and Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it

If you send a form and we don't go on to work together, we delete what you sent 24 months after we last heard from you. Records of clients and referral partners are kept for as long as we work together and as long as the law requires afterwards.

Your choices

To review, correct or delete information you've given us, email david@longcoursetax.com.

Children

This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no website or email transmission is completely secure.

Changes

We'll post any changes on this page and update the effective date. For significant changes, we'll also post a notice on the home page.
